In chiropractic care we often talk about the 3 T’s and how they cause subluxations in the spine. A subluxation is a neurological interference between the brain and the body at the spinal level. Those 3 T’s are: trauma, toxins and thoughts.
TRAUMA
Trauma is physical stress. Examples of that include:
- Slips/falls
- Car accidents
- Poor posture
- Sleeping in the same poor position
- Crossing your legs
- Wallets in back pockets
- Looking down at your computer, tablet or cell phone (THIS IS HUGE!)
- Carrying a heavy purse on the same shoulder or a heavy backpack
- Stressful pregnancy, birth intervention or traumatic birth
TOXINS
Toxins are chemical stress. Examples of that include:
- Air pollution
- Chemical cleaning agents
- Toxic skin care
- Water supply
- Food sensitivities and allergies. GMO, processed and inflammatory foods
- Antibiotics and other medications
- Vaccines
- Leaching from plastics
THOUGHTS
Thoughts are emotional stress. Examples of that include:
- Home stress
- Work and financial stress
- Fear, anxiety and worrying thoughts
- Tech overload
- Negative thoughts
- Not getting a good night rest (at least 8 hours of sleep)
- Overloaded schedules
EARLY WARNING SIGNS IN CHILDREN
These can be indications of the children’s body experiencing one of the T’s and setting up the potential for more chronic disorders (listed below) if not addressed.
- Colic and sleep issues
- Constipation and reflux
- Nursing issues
- Torticollis or Plagiocephaly
- Ear infections
- Respiratory infections
- Allergies and asthma
- Speech or motor delays
